4 Easy Ways to Boost your Confidence and Feel more Beautiful

Did you know that the most common cause of a lack of confidence is not feeling beautiful?  More than one in two women lack confidence, which means that over half of us don’t like what we see when we look in the mirror!  This statistic only gets worse as we age – the older we get, the less confident we seem to be.

What’s important to understand is that there is probably a root cause of your lack of confidence.  It could stem back to your school days and something you were teased for, or it could be one feature that you’re not too keen on.  The most common causes of a lack of confidence are: teeth, weight, skin, and body hair.   1. Take care of your body
    Whether or not your confidence issues are caused by your weight, it’s still important to take care of your body. Studies have shown that women who eat well and exercise regularly, tend to be twice as body confident as women who don’t. It seems obvious that when we feed our bodies with the nutrients they need while doing physical activity to strengthen them, our self-esteem naturally rises.  Exercise releases endorphins which promote positive, happy feelings and help us feel better about ourselves.  Make an effort to achieve a healthier body and you’ll feel better for it.
  2. Get your teeth fixed
    Our teeth are the first thing that people notice about us, which is why they can have such a big impact on your confidence. If your teeth aren’t as white as you would like them to be, consider having them whitened. For this, you can buy an over-the-counter kit or visit a cosmetic dentist for a professional whitening treatment. Or, if your teeth are crooked, and this has always bothered you, consider seeing an orthodontist.  There are various treatments for straightening teeth (i.e. train track braces are no longer your only option!) To complement this, you might want to look into false lashes, lipstick and makeup, just to finish the look. However, remember that although quality usually costs money, the best false lashes I ever had were from a UK company and didn’t cost the earth, so look around and get some recommendations from friends.
  3. Remove excess body hair
    It’s no secret that us ladies have body hair in places we would rather not. For a lot of us, this can have a big impact on our self-esteem, especially when we’re not sure how to effectively get rid of it. The best option for a hair-free look is waxing, as it’s safe, quick, easy and affordable.
  4. Give your skin a health boost
    Lastly, a great way to boost your confidence is by giving your skin a health boost. If your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be, you need to change that. The best way to do this is to eat a clean, healthy diet and drink lots of water. Refined sugar not only causes blemishes and breakouts but also accelerates the aging process. So it’s worth steering clear of foods containing it. It’s also important to establish a good skincare routine. Remove products from your bathroom cabinet which contain toxic nasties, and establish a regular routine of cleansing, toning, and hydrating with clean, non-toxic skin care products.
